Well, at least something good is coming out of my QaF obsession. I just finished reading
"A Real Artist" (QaF slash-fic) and I realized that I completely forgot the main reason why I began doing art. This whole year I've been worried about technique and perfection of the image, color composition, etc. that I've neglected the most amazing aspect of art: the ability to capture not just a moment or image, but a feel for the subject. It's been far too long since I drew from life and not a photograph. I want to draw someone so intimately that it reveals part of the person inside.
... My god, that's what I've been doing wrong all year. That's why I've been so unsatisfied with all of my drawings. Yes, that's what I need to do now. I need to stop looking at things so superficially. Why hadn't I seen it all this time?
